ZOOLAB - 06/03/2017

On Tuesday 31st January Year 7 and Year 10 students had the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the animals of the rainforest, courtesy of ZOOLAB, as part of their geography course.

There was a guided lecture and a chance to meet and handle some rainforest creatures such as snakes, African giant snail, millipede and tarantulas. The students were a credit to the academy, where they asked fantastic questions and demonstrated a brilliant understanding of the ways the animals have adapted to survive in the extreme rainforest environment

Two of UAW’s brave students, Chiara Moore and Cieron Kirkham, volunteered to handle ‘Lenny’ the dwarf boa constrictor.

Mr Pollard commented: ‘The students asked interesting questions and demonstrated a brilliant understanding of the ways the animals have adapted to survive in the extreme rainforest environment.’
